Andrea Little Limbago is a computational social scientist specializing in the intersection of technology, national security, and society. She is the Chief Social Scientist at Virtru, an encryption and data privacy software company, where she researches and writes on the geopolitics of cybersecurity, global digital privacy trends, and usable security. Her writing has been featured in numerous outlets, and she frequently presents on a range of cybersecurity topics such as norms, attacker trends, computational propaganda, digital privacy, and workforce development. Andrea is also a Senior Fellow and Program Director for the Emerging Technologies Law and Policy Program at the National Security Institute at George Mason, and she contributes to numerous security conference program review committees. She previously was the Chief Social Scientist at Endgame. Prior to that, Andrea taught in academia and was a technical lead at the Department of Defense, where she received the top award for technical excellence. Andrea earned a PhD in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Roy Wattanasin is currently a information security leader in the healthcare industry. Previously, Roy was the information security manager of Asia Pacific for a robotics company. He was the information security officer at a Massachusetts healthcare medical center (for many years) responsible for all aspects of the information security program. Roy has also worked in the consulting, financial, life sciences, technology and academic industries as well. He has also been a long-time ISSA New England member, a ISSA Healthcare SIG contributor/member and a former ISSA CISO Forum member.

Additionally, Roy is an avid speaker who has spoken at many conferences and webinars. Roy also enjoys data forensics & incident response, building security in and managing relationships. Ken moved to California to be the director for Threat Intelligence startup, CyByL, mentioned in the epilog of the book “Fatal System Error”. Prior to that, he worked in Arizona for Honeywell in their global response team and Mayo Clinic Arizona as ISO. Ken also served as a member of the Board of Directors for Prolexic Technologies, the subject of “Fatal System Error”, prior to acquisition by Akamai. He started his career as the first Internet Security Analyst at State Farm Insurance, working there for 10 years.

Karthik is an experienced security engineer with a focus on application and infrastructure security. John Sicklick has over 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry as a software developer, systems administrator, systems integrator, and systems security engineer. John is a retired U.S. Navy Commander where he served as an Information Corps Warfare Qualified officer. John currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at a local community college, teaching courses in ethical hacking, Linux operating system, and computer forensics. He has also served as a mentor instructor for SANS. A graduate of New York Maritime College And Azusa Pacific University, he holds a BS in Computer Science and an MS in Applied Computer Science and Technical Programming. Elizabeth is the VP, Operations & Strategy for Prevailion (a tailored intelligence startup), overseeing the development and implementation of legal, public policy, and strategic business initiatives and operations. Ron currently works as a Medical Device Penetration Tester for a large medical device manufacturer. He started working in IT supporting VMS and Novell environments in the early 1990s. This expanded into other platform and network engineering roles. Ten years ago he made the transition into Information Security full time, applying his previous skills into a new security role. In his current role he provides mentoring to junior security team members to help them identify their strengths and areas of interest in the security field.

Peter is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Lazard where he is responsible for the global information security strategy and program at one of the world’s preeminent financial advisory and asset management firms with operations in 43 cities across 27 countries . Prior to Lazard, Peter was with Citigroup’s global information security team serving as the Head of Information Risk Governance, where he led the team that was responsible for Information Security Policy globally. His experience also includes 6 years as a Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Threat and Vulnerability Management advisory practice and over a decade founding and operating a publicly traded technology consultancy that specialized in designing, building, and operating secure high availability data centers and networks around the world for military, intelligence, and commercial clients.

Larci Robertson is the Senior Manager, Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) at Epsilon, a digital marketing company. She began her cyber career in the United States Navy as an intelligence analyst. She had many different opportunities in the intelligence community at sea and shore. She is a proud plank owner of the Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command (NCDOC) where she was one of the first CTI analysts as we know them today. After leaving the Navy she worked as a defense contractor in various roles in the intelligence and technology fields. She has worked with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), Booz Allen Hamilton, Raytheon and PepsiCo before landing at Epsilon. Constantly transferring with her Army husband gave her many opportunities to get hired not only in the US but also overseas. Robert gives back to the community through resume review, mock interviews and his favorite, tutoring students in Data Structures. He has a degree in CS from San Diego State University and he made the jump from SW Engineering to InfoSec in 2014. He is currently a manager in Application Security at Sony Interactive Entertainment PlayStation)

Over the years Kevin has held many diverse roles including security engineering, incident response, development, reverse engineering, and threat hunting. In his current role as a threat researcher he’s charged with career plan development, training, and mentoring across several teams. In a leadership role he also assists with reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates to help build out high performance teams.

Aakin has worked in cybersecurity for over two decades across a variety of industries in both the public and private sector. Starting as a hands on technical UNIX engineer, he is now a manager who
focuses on building strong and effective teams in the national infrastructure space to tackle the unique cybersecurity challenges faced in that environment. He also serves on the College of Sothern Nevada advisory board, helping build a more effective cybersecurity program for the students there. He was also one of the founding member of his local hackerspace, and continues to serve on the board there.

Michael Rich is a retired Air Force Lt Col. My military career spanned engineering, acquisitions, intelligence, and operations with the 67th Cyberspace Wing. I successfully transitioned to commercial life in 2016. I started out as a defense contractor working for MITRE but decided I wanted to do something different. After a bit of a dry spell looking for a non-defense-related job, I finally “closed the deal” and got a job as a Senior Manager for Infosec at my current health-care related company. I grew that into a director position running both the security and infrastructure side at the same company. I’ll be happy to discuss what I did to prepare myself for retirement, how I positioned my resume to finally land my current job, the differences between military and commercial life, why I find it hard to hire veterans in to my shop, or anything else that is on your mind (including mental health).

[John] Edward Dunnahoe, Senior Managing Security Consultant – Edward (“Ed”) Dunnahoe has over eleven years of information security experience, with an emphasis on vulnerability and risk assessments, penetration testing, and information security program management. Prior to joining GuidePoint Security, Ed initially performed a variety of information security consulting services including penetration testing, security awareness training, vulnerability and risk assessments, IT control audits, and social engineering for hundreds of small, medium, and large financial institutions across the country. From there, he transitioned into a network defense role for a financial services application service provider where he not only assisted with information security program development, but was also responsible for engineering objectives, such as security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.

Bret Peresich is a senior cyber security specialist with Athena Consulting Group. He is a Navy veteran; served for 10 years. He has worked as a Department of Defense contractor for just over 19 years. He received his B.S. – Information Technology from Strayer University. He has obtained the ISC2 Certified Information Security Specialist (CISSP) and ISACA Certified Information System Auditor certifications. When he is not working, he enjoys gaming, programming, and reading; always striving to learn something new.

Pete Cooper was formally a fast jet pilot in the UK RAF before moving into cyber operations. Since he left the military, he now has many hats…. He advises on developing cyber security strategy across everything from international organisations, governments and companies. Most recently he has been focussed in the aviation sector where he has been advising IATA and ICAO on global aviation cyber security strategy. He is also an Atlantic Council Cyber Statecraft Senior Fellow and the founder and Director of Cyber 9/12 UK, the UK’s only student cyber strategy challenge. Here he helps university students understand the value of their skills and hook up with cyber security roles in industry. As part of this he has also been successfully advocating into government and industry on the need for diverse cyber security skills and recruitment. Pete is also one of the leads for the Aviation Village at DEF CON 27 this year; is a speaker at events such as RSA, Cyber UK and more; was judged 12th on a list of global cyber security influencers by IFSEC in 2018 and holds a Post Grad in Cyberspace Operations where he published on the topic of developing legal active cyber defence strategies. 

Brian Markham has been working as an information security practitioner and manager for over 16 years in both higher education and as a consultant in the public and private sectors. He currently works as the AVP for Information Security at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Brian has an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Maryland and a number of professional certifications.

Kris is Co-Founder of Tiro Security a Cyber Security Staffing and Professional services company. He has been working in recruitment for over 20 years and is heavily involved in the InfoSec community.
