SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Peerlyst, the world’s largest social network for information security professionals, will serve as the official community platform for BSides Las Vegas in August. The all-volunteer BSidesLV InfoSec conference will use Peerlyst to further its commitment to free dissemination of information and to expand discussion beyond the conference.
“BSidesLV’s partnership with Peerlyst allows us to extend our information security event beyond the physical,” says Genevieve Southwick, Executive Producer of Security BSides Las Vegas.
“Many conferences have a tendency to be an echo chamber, which can stifle thinking and limit participation. We intend for BSidesLV to be the first event to really connect speakers with participants, as well as those outside the conference. By connecting through Peerlyst, we can further the discussion around information security in a way that really moves knowledge forward, truly living up to the Security BSides’ maxim of ‘expanding the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time.'”
During BSidesLV, Peerlyst will serve as a unified platform that will not only allow InfoSec professionals at the conference to find each other and connect directly, but will provide dedicated spaces for presentations, related content, and discussions before and after the talks. Materials from the conference may be posted on Peerlyst, to bring those outside the conference into the discussion. The online platform enables speakers to share content and answer questions before and after their talks.
“BSidesLV fits really well with the Peerlyst mission,” said Limor Elbaz, founder of Peerlyst. “Our goal from the beginning has been to break down traditional barriers in the InfoSec industry by connecting professionals directly based on the merits of their ideas, rather than their CV. We’re thrilled to partner with BSidesLV, which has been so successful in breaking down the traditional barriers to events, like cost and accessibility.”
In addition to creating a professional, peer-based social network, Peerlyst also offers resources that will enable speakers to promote their talks on Peerlyst, reaching more than 50 percent of the security professionals in the world.
